Importing Semester Results into CASES21

Importing Semester Results into CASES21

Overview

This article details the processes for exporting Semester results from Compass to import into CASES21

This process is used in relation to Semester Reporting and there are three aspects to this process:

  1. Exporting the Semester Results from Compass
  2. Importing the File into CASES21
  3. Aggregating the data in CASES21

Permissions

Exporting the Semester Results for reporting purposes requires the CompassAppReportsAdmin permission.

If you do not have the required permissions please speak with your school technician.

Exporting Semester Results from Compass

Once results have been entered for all required students in your semester report cycle, you will be able to export your Victorian Curriculum data ready to be imported into CASES21.

Navigate to the Teaching and Learning menu (pencil icon) > Semester Reports, then choose the appropriate reporting cycle and click on the title of the cycle to enter the Report Cycle Administration page.

Click on the 'Exports' button and select the 'Victorian Curriculum CASES21 (PRS212)' option:

The file will then download at the bottom of your screen. If the file doesn't appear at the bottom of your screen, you will need to search for your "Downloads" folder in Windows Explorer or the Finder application on a Mac and save the file to your U:\ drive.

Do not open the downloaded file before importing it into CASES, as this can corrupt the file and stop it from being imported correctly.

Importing Victorian Curriculum into CASES21

Open your CASES21 system and navigate to Students > Achievements > Achievement Data Imports / Exports.  Click on the 'Import Student Results' option.

A pop up window will open and you need to click the 'Run' button.

Select your Victorian Curriculum file previously saved on the U:\ drive to import results. Once your Victorian Curriculum data has imported, the next step is to aggregate the data.

Aggregating the Data

To aggregate the data, navigate to Students > Achievements > Achievement Data Summaries in the CASES21 user interface.  Click on the 'Aggregate Achievement Data' option.

When the pop up window displays, click the 'Run' button.

Your Victorian Curriculum data is now imported and available to the Department of Education for reporting purposes.
