Estimating Results in Learning Tasks

Estimating Results in Learning Tasks

Overview

Estimation can be used to estimate a result for a student that may have missed a test, or predicting potential results for a new student who has joined the class.

This function can be accessed by going to the Learning Task Grid Results tab, then right clicking on a cell, and selecting 'Estimate a result'.

It is important to note that this option will only appear when;

  • The student has another result in the same component type in the subject/class you are selecting
  • More than one student has a result in this component (ie. Standard Deviation needs to be greater than 0)
When you select a result to estimate, you will see a panel appear that will allow you to set which components are included in the estimation.

Once saved, this will apply the estimated result to the selected cell.

Results are estimated using standardisation, by comparing the student's results in the included components to the average result of the class and then converting the standardised result to fit the grading component being estimated.

Full details on the rules can be found under the Rules tab when setting a results estimation.
