AM PM Session Rolls Only for Secondary Schools

AM PM Session Rolls Only for Secondary Schools

Overview

When implementing Online Learning you can adjust your usual practice of teachers marking a roll each period to only taking attendance twice a day via an AM and a PM session.

Students marked present in these classes will receive a ‘Present’ mark which will carry across for the entire day. The other periods in the day will not be counted towards the student's attendance and they will not display as unmarked rolls for your teachers. Parents of students that are "Not Present" in school will need to follow the usual approval process by entering Attendance Notes or contacting the school directly.

Setting Rolls to one AM Period per day and one PM Period per day

  1. Navigate to the 'cog' icon and click 'Administration Tools'
  2. Click the 'Configure Schedules' menu option
  3. Within here, navigate to the ‘Periods’ step on the left
  4. Once here, you will need to go through each day and decide which two periods you would like to determine AM & PM attendance. For example, Period 1 for AM and Period 5 for PM will still be marked as normal, and the rest of the classes will not need to be marked. To do so, click the edit pencil next to the periods you don’t want to mark (e.g. Period 2), then, under RMMO (Roll Marking Mode Override), select ‘No Roll/No Attendance’. This will mean that no rolls will appear for your other classes and only the two periods you leave as Default will count towards the AM and PM marking.

Click ‘Update’ and move onto the next period (you will only need to do this for the periods that have classes scheduled in them, so not break periods).
  1. Repeat this process for each of the days listed on the left-hand side
Your Period Structure should now look something like this with only one AM period and one PM period left as Default.

  1. Once you have completed these steps, you will need to import your timetable again. This will need to be done through the Compass Data Sync Tool. This will then change all of your future rolls going forward to your desired configuration
